Leaders, we know that our children not only deserve better schools in their neighborhoods, but radically better schools. Well, research suggests that we “principals” are the difference makers, yet we only spend eight percent of our time in the classroom (Tepper & Flynn, 2022).This session offers a new standard for academic leaders who want to create transformational change in student outcomes. In this session, leaders are introduced to academic research and effective practices as we draft an action plan to drive academic success in our schools.

The Principal Learning Center (PLC)
Dr. Mike Brown, a proud New Jersey native, a loving husband of 19 years, and a doting father of two preteens, has dedicated over 24 years to advocating for high-quality education in underserved communities. He holds a BA from Hampton University, a Master's from Boston College, and a Doctorate from Vanderbilt University, where he also serves as an Adjunct Professor. Dr. Brown’s career began in the classroom as a middle school teacher, eventually progressing to the role of Principal, where he gained recognition for his success in leading school turnaround. As a former Chief Schools Officer, he supported a network of schools serving 2,000 students before serving as the Chief Schools Officer at New Schools For Alabama. Currently, Dr. Brown leads the Principal Learning Center (PLC) and continues to make a lasting impact on educational leadership and educational reform.
