Alison Bagg currently serves as Director of the Office of Charter Schools and School Redesign at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. She is responsible for leading the Department’s work supporting and overseeing charter and virtual educational options available to Massachusetts families. The Department has been recognized as a national leader for charter school authorizing. She is a former member of the board of the National Association of Charter School Authorizers and currently serves as a member of MIT Blueprint Labs’ Charter School Research Collaborative Advisory Council. Alison began her education career working as an Outward Bound instructor on Thompson Island in Boston Harbor, and taught middle school social studies in traditional public and charter schools. She holds a BA in social sciences from Wesleyan University and a MEd from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
